Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Ccatca - Pacchanta - Comercocha - Azulcocha - Pacchanta - Cusco

We’ll start the day by picking you up at your hostel to head south of the city of Cusco. While passing picturesque villages and ladscapes, we’ll witness the old peruvian culture and traditions reflected in the locals’ colorful costumes and homes. Stopping briefly in the town of Ccatcca, we’ll visit its square and some of its narrow streets that further embellish the ancient place.

We’ll continue on the interoceanic road that connects Peru with its neighboring country Brazil until we reach the municipality of Pacchanta. In the town, located more than 4000 masl, a lovely local family will welcome and invite us to their home and serve us a nutritious breakfast with andean ingredients. After learning more about this charming place, we’ll drive to the Vilcanota Mountain Range, from where we can appreciate the snow-capped Ausangate, one of the most spectacular glaciers that feeds the simmering lagoons we’ll visit during our trip.

Our first part of the hike then begins with a climb of about 3½ hours to reach the Ninaparayoc viewpoint. On the way, we’ll pass Comercocha and Alqacocha, two lakes with shimmering green and turquoise water which are located at the foot of the mystical Callangate glacier. On the way back to Pacchanta, we’ll then pass by the other lagoons: Patacocha, Otorongococha and Azulcocha; where we’ll have the chance to let the beauty and power of nature work its magic on us and take some pictures.

Before diving into the famous and relaxing thermo-medicinal waters of Pacchanta, we’ll come back to our host family’s house to savor a delicious lunch. After this remarkable experience, we’ll drive back to Cusco and drop you off at your hostel.
